Arterial Doppler

Home/Arterial Doppler

An Arterial Doppler test checks the circulation in either your arms or legs. This test relies on the use of blood pressure cuffs (similar to the one used to take your arm blood pressure). It measures and records blood flow patterns and pressures to either the upper or lower extremities. The technologists will also listen to your arteries.

Arterial Doppler ultrasound is an imaging test to check the blood flow in the arteries in your arms or legs. The test looks for blockages that could lead to peripheral vascular disease.

Arterial Doppler ultrasound takes about 30 minutes for each arm or leg imaged.

The test is painless.

Wear clothing that you can take off easily. Your technician will need access to your legs, from the groin to the ankle, or your arms, from the neck to the wrist. You do not have to remove your underwear.
